7th AfriGEO Symposium

Venue & Co-Hosts

The 7th AfriGEO Symposium was held at the COSDEF Arts and Crafts Centre in Swakopmund, Namibia from 18–23 September 2023. It was co-hosted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation and the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology.

Pre-Symposium Activities

Main Symposium

The main conference took place from 20–22 September 2023.

Key Outcomes

• AfriGEO’s mandate reaffirmed to unify EO stakeholders in addressing Africa's development challenges.
• Call for collaboration between public and private sectors to enhance impact and service delivery.
• Support for private-private partnerships to drive innovation and EO services.
• Importance of implementing acquired skills to realize the full impact of capacity building efforts.
• Appeal to African space agencies and member countries to commit resources to sustain AfriGEO’s growth.
• Focus on people-centered solutions and co-designing interventions with stakeholders for relevance and effectiveness.
