6th AfriGEO Symposium

Theme

The 6th AfriGEO Symposium took place during the 18th GEO Week as a side event in Accra, Ghana from 31st October to 5th November 2022. The theme was “Harnessing EO toward Resilient and Sustainable systems, communities, and resources.”

Objective

The symposium aimed at addressing critical issues related to how the Earth Observation community contributes to building people’s resilience and ensuring the sustainability of the resources around them.

Key Focus

The event featured 6 sessions with the goal of showcasing actions that Africa is taking to build sustainable and resilient systems, communities, and resources. These efforts were demonstrated through:

• Scalable case studies
• Reliable EO-based methods
• Exemplar systems that serve as working models
• Addressing current gaps and proposing ways to strengthen them
